Let Bowie grow up but also keep her safe from beaching on the docks.

Aleta has been enjoying having all the other moms in the lagoon, so she can catch a break every now and then while other moms swim around with and keep an eye on Bowie.

Aleta and Merina are usually the first two to bring a gift if someone is nervous and unsure. Even if people don’t want to get close to them, they still help them feel involved. 

Aleta, Santini, and Summer have enjoyed playing with our dolphin camp visitors this summer! The older girls brought all of the presents and Summer surprised everyone by pulling a big floaty boat this year.

Like mother, like daughter - when either Aleta or Diva are away from their session for a period of time, they both bring back a gift to their trainer, almost as if to say “Sorry, I was gone!”

Aleta, Cayo and Merina have been perfecting some of their husbandry behaviors. Merina practices her eye drops everyday, Cayo her water behavior and Aleta has been working on her ultrasound layouts.

Aleta's 2025 Resolution: To achieve a higher state of perfection. It might be difficult, but I think I can do it.  

Cayo and Aleta have been fantastic at taking care of our two youngest dolphins but we have seen them begin to take a relaxed step back as the babies enter into being two year old “toddler” dolphins. They are allowing them to go to their own sessions without checking on them as often.

Aleta and Luna are some of the sweetest girls in the lagoons. Sometimes they would prefer to be observers instead of being right in the middle of all the action.Though recently they could not wait to paint! They were adamant that after one was finished painting the other would go next to show off their artistic skills.

Aleta and Tursi are such a perfect combination. They are some of the sweetest and most gentle dolphins. This really is showcased in how they continue to look out for Bowie and Morada, and really seem to enjoy being grandmas!

Aleta is known for bringing presents to guests and trainers without being asked, but it is pretty special if Cayo will bring one all by herself. When a staff member was doing some dock time the day after her birthday, both Aleta and Cayo brought her presents. She said she  was pretty sure they just knew to bring her birthday presents.

Aleta and Cayo continue to be fantastic mother figures. As the babies grow up, Aleta and Cayo are giving them more and more leeway to try new things. But if they ever think that the little girls are doing something they shouldn't, they immediately stop what they are doing and quickly go to the little girls, whistling to them the entire way.

Stepping into adoptive mom and grandma roles has been where these ladies are shining recently. Aleta has fully stepped into the adoptive mom role for Bowie, she is the first one to show Bowie the ropes or to give her corrective guidance. Merina is incredibly patient with Morada as they share the dock. She willingly serves as an example for anything Morada may be learning.
