Morada
Adopt MeGift Me a Bucket of Fish!
Maybe learn to water this year.
Morada is working on holding a paintbrush! Meanwhile, her Aunt Windley is learning her front flip, also fun but more physically more challenging.
Bowie and Morada are getting the idea of dorsal pulls! Morada can’t wait to do them and is usually rushing to beat any other dolphin to a hand first, and Bowie has learned that swimming next to the person holding her helps a lot vs. just coasting by them.
Bowie and Morada are becoming more comfortable with meeting guests as they both have been participating in encounter programs and learning lots of new things - the hardest being able to wait their turns now!
Bowie and Morada are both learning voluntary medical behaviors. Bowie is learning how to receive water, and Morada is learning how to work with her trainers for layout practices.
Diva and Windley are taking their “big sister” roles seriously and are getting great practice as mother figures as they are commonly seen swimming around with Morada and shepherding her about.
Morada’s 2025 Resolution: To share with my BFF, Bowie.
Morada has been enjoying playing with the minnow fish in the lagoons. She will usually be seen “fishing" throughout the day as she chases them around. One day, she kept one like a pet for her entire session. She kept it in her mouth in a little pool of water and let it swim around. We’re not sure how she managed to keep it and eat her normal fish at the same time, but we were very impressed!
Being a mom is something that Cayo has embraced wholeheartedly. If she could talk she would probably say that she has little time for anything else other than watching after her daughter. Morada can be seen consistently following her lead when in, as well as out of their sessions.
Cayo showed Morada how to play catch with seaweed with her trainers during a recent playtime. Morada loved the game so much that she kept throwing seaweed to herself after the trainers left. Cayo continues to be the best mom to Morada, keeping her close under her flipper.
Morada and Pandora have become pretty good friends in recent weeks. If Cayo is busy and needs a mom break, Pandora will usually step in and help watch Morada. Morada has even taken to seeking Pandora out from time to time.
Ranger was recently introduced to the two littlest Bowie and Morada, and they have become an adorable little trio. Ranger is assuming the role of “big brother,” always watching to see if he can interact and play with them. He was also seen encouraging them to participate in dockside enrichment with trainers and a guest.
Bowie and Morada continue to grow and thrive. They recently had a big adventure when they moved into our front lagoon with their moms and aunties. Bowie leads the way in helping Morada become comfortable as they see more of their home.
