Jax and Ranger have been doing so well living together that now they are practicing seperating from each other as they familiarize themselves with medical assist training.
Ranger has become old enough to begin meeting the boy dolphins! Jax, being friends with everyone, volunteered to be his first friend!
Cacica and Ranger are trying their “flipper” at learning research games! They are both in the beginning stages of “object permanence” and learning to find the alligator.
Windley is a great example to Ranger as he continues to enjoy helping with special needs programs. Recently, they were very patient and sweet with a vision-impaired guest as they let them feel their faces to learn Ranger & Windley about dolphins.
Bowie and Ranger were excited to play with a filefish in their lagoons, when Cacica noticed she gently took it from them and brought it to her trainer almost as if to say “please don’t let the littles play with this right now, we’re having a session”.
Ranger’s 2025 Resolution: To learn as many research games as possible!
Ranger has been working on his concept behavior of “present” where he can go find anything in his lagoon and bring it back. Well, he really took it to heart and found a Cassiopeia Jellyfish and thought that was a cool present to bring back.
When asked to dive over a hoop, Ranger took the hoop and brought it to the dock. Diva decided that she was still going to do what she was asked so she jumped over it as he brought it back!
Pandora and Ranger have been a great team for a long time. Pandora has enjoyed being an example to Ranger since he first arrived at Dolphin Research Center. She continues to be a great example as he now begins to learn medical behaviors. She is showing him how to perfect all of his layouts.
We are blessed to have generations of dolphins but we are also starting to be known for generations of our staff’s golden retriever family. Delta had fun meeting new puppy Akeela. Ranger followed suit and met one of Delta’s longtime friends, Gunnar! Watching our dog and dolphin family grow together is a fun experience.
Ranger was recently introduced to the two littlest Bowie and Morada, and they have become an adorable little trio. Ranger is assuming the role of “big brother,” always watching to see if he can interact and play with them. He was also seen encouraging them to participate in dockside enrichment with trainers and a guest.
Atocha and Windley are still fulfilling their roles as big sisters to Ranger. They are currently coaching him through his back-dive. He still has a little way to go but these girls will get him there in no time.
