Speedy

Speedy is one of our male African Spurred Tortoises that calls DRC home. Speedy moved to his forever home on February 7th, 2022 with Ziggy, another male Spurred Tortoise. Ziggy and Speedy were living at a nearby resort. When new owners took over the establishment, they didn't feel that they could adequately care for the tortoises and asked DRC to adopt them.

Speedy is the smaller of the two male tortoises so it is very easy to tell the two apart. In the wild, male tortoises are naturally territorial and can fight for domince when in close quarters. Ziggy and Speedy are not housed together currently but do get to spend time with visitors!
